IAA Transportation 2022 Showcases China Prowess in New Commercial Vehicles

More than 1,400 exhibitors are taking part in the IAA Transportation 2022 exhibition in Hanover, Germany, and over 70 of them are Chinese. Shanghai-based SAIC Maxus, for instance, showcased five new electric vehicles at the show, including the MIFA 9, a full-size luxury pure-electric MPV. The company argues that its electric commercial vehicle technology is the most advanced and innovative in Europe.

China is making a strong debut in the world of new commercial vehicles at IAA Transportation 2022. Previously titled IAA Commercial Vehicles, the show is set to focus on zero-emission vehicles, in line with the global fight against climate change. The German Association of the Automotive Industry is aiming to include the entire transport and logistics spectrum in future events.
The once-two-year show in the German city of Hanover was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was formerly known as IAA Commercial Vehicles, but the organizer, the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), hopes the new concept could cover the entire transport and logistics spectrum rather than the previously light and heavy commercial vehicles.

At IAA Transportation 2022, China will make a powerful debut as a leader in the new commercial vehicle market. The world’s largest commercial vehicle exhibition, IAA Transportation takes place in Hanover, Germany from 20 to 25 September. More than 1,400 companies will exhibit at the exhibition, from international and national manufacturers to suppliers and infrastructure providers. Among them are car manufacturers, bus manufacturers, tech-companies, start-ups, and cargo bike makers.

BYD unveiled its ground-breaking new eBus Blade Platform. It two zero-emission pure-electric trucks, the ETM6 7-ton urban delivery truck and the ETH8 19-ton truck, which are designed for logistics and waste collection, made their debut in Hanover.
